I just paid $6 for a complete A-Z set of all 6 volumes of the 2012 Scott Catalogues. No shipping costs - I picked them up. They are truly in "like new" condition with no markings, odors, tears, and so on. $6 - one dollar per book. Several years ago - after some research - I learned that some libraries sell their old books when they buy a newer edition. And as you can see, sometimes they sell them very cheap. Bigger cities actually sell their older reference books on
Amazon, and some progressive library districts have sales of their own. I could fill a couple pages on "my research", but that's not important. What worked for me was visiting many local libraries and building relationships with staffers who were willing to 'call me' when they updated their Scott Catalogues. I have never paid more than $5 per book - yesterday I hit the jackpot - complete set for $1 per book. I share this information with you all hoping you can take advantage of the cost savings too - and spend your extra money on stamps instead of books! Good luck and happy hunting. Hint: Forget the big cities with complex library systems (Chicago, LA, NY, and so on. And forget the tiny cities. Focus on the small to medium size 'well-to-do suburb-type towns)
