The original layout (with the topics in the right hand column) supported opening links in a new tab/window. This was convenient since a user could leave the opening/landing page open and quickly return without using the Back button.

To get the same behavior with the new layout you have to right click the link and tell it to open in new tab. But when a user does this the browser will not acknowledge that the user has visited the links (links do not change color).

While others may embrace this change it did not seem to support the way I would like to interact with the forum. But I took a closer look at the code and found a work-around; here are the links

That's because IE is broken. Microsoft has known about this non-compliant behavior for quite some time (close to 2 years I think) and they just don't care. Not much I can do about it.

After sending a private message to the moderators, and getting the reference to this topic, I feel like a complete idiot. I was (emphasis on was) concerned because the 100 active topics had disappered along the left side. To find them at the bottom is humbling and I do apologize to the moderator for wasting his time. mea culpa,( hitting my self on head with a piece of limp spaghetti.)

I don't like the auction links in the left column. I don't mind the bottom re-arrangement so much though. Over-all I would say it's OK but it will just take a little getting used to like anything. Thank you for your hard work Bobby1313. -Jeff

I don't like it...commerce before content..why don't you switch things around..return the topics to the left side margin and put the auctions at the bottom of the page.

I love the fact that clicking on a post opens in a new tab. Nice improvement.

Hi there - I have used the site daily since the new changes and overall, I think it is a good change... Just a couple of suggestions if I may?

1. Mobile (cell phones and tablets): When I browse from my cell phone or tablet, the fixed width's on the site are forcing the pages to be too wide to view causing horizontal scrolling. If there was a way to update the site so the text wraps for cell phones and tablets that would be awesome!

2. Also on mobile, the small links at the bottom are difficult to click on with your finger because they are so close together.

3. Finally - It would be cool if on the Home Page only, that the list of Top Active Topics appeared BEFORE the list of forums. So we can see the latest topics right away when we log on to the site... This would make it easier to quickly log on, and see what is new. Also, I think this would help new users to see where the topics are right away...

Thanks for you time. and your hard work in running this website - Which, is sometimes probably a pretty thankless job!

Eric

Hmmmm... with the topics way at the bottom, they are easily missed. I missed them until I looked for a thread here about any changes. When they were at the left, they caught the eye. It is like ads at the bottom of pages: how many people actually scroll to the very bottom of a page, as opposed to the sides, which you see from top to bottom?

Not complaining, just giving my 2-cents, for what it's worth.
