Wert, number 1 is on laid paper, number 4 is on wove (many types) paper. Sometimes, people confuse "laid" with ribbed, but a bit of study will deal with this. Laid lines are wider. When I have a few minutes, I'll try to post my Laid paper and wove paper examples..
Thanks Gilles le timbre I will try looking for that..appreciate it if you can upload a few pictures for me...her is a picture of the back..not very clear..??
From this distance that surely looks to be wove paper - but I wouldn't trust an online opinion. We frequently get examples of #1 submitted to the Greene Foundation on which the laid lines are extremely difficult to discern. Put the stamp in watermarking fluid and examine (a) under a high intensity lamp and (b) under a long wave ultra violet lamp while the stamp is still wet. Those two tests often bring out faint laid lines. GJP
