I just sorted through a very large collection of worldwide and these are the last 5 I cannot find in Scott's. They look Turkish but I would appreciate any help! Specifically, I would like to know:

Country
Catalog number (Scott if available, but any catalog works)
Catalog value (indicate currency)
Year (unless Scott # provided, in which case I can find year)

Thanks in advance!

First is Turkey, 1929 postal tax stamp (for Red halfmoon, child care etc), Michel #17. CV. 0.70€

The rest are also clearly of Turkish origin . Third and fourth have the look and feel of revenues IMHO.

I might be sticking my neck out on this one, but, doesn't the 3rd stamp down appear to have Greek lettering in the cancel, or am I reading it wrong??

I admit, the stamp is Turkish, but the cancel is different (?)

It may be Thrace, if that is the case. It seems Turkey, Turkey in Asia, Thrace, and Syria are quite similar in appearance and designs.

Hi Bujutsu,

You're right, the cancellation is in Greek and in the middle is the Greek form of "Constantinople".

There used to be a large population of Greeks in Turkey, especially in western areas in and around Constantinople/Istanbul and Smyrna/Izmir.

The "Rodosto" cancellation appears to be a postal cancellation from Rodosto/Tekirdag in European Turkey.

The last four are all Turkish revenues.

Thank you for that info. Is there any monetary value to them? A large part of this collection was Persian and Turkish with quite a few valuable stamps. I have a collector of Turkey looking to trade and just want to have some idea if I'm passing up anything significant or if they are relatively common.

Yes, these revenues are all fairly common:

10 paras 1909 fixed fees
10 paras 1899 proportional fees
2 paras 1909 fixed fees
10 paras 1879 proportional fees

Turley or Greece is not necessarily my area but I thought I better mention it. Glad I did now <G>.
