Hi All

I have had this stamp for a number of years now. As you can see, the "B2" overprint was applied twice.

I have not seen any reference to it in any catalogue for this type of stamp, including the Lee / Brandom ones as well.

Has any member seen anything similar to this? Do you think it is a type that should be listed??

Thanks

Chimo

Bujutsu,

I don't think you will get this kind of overprint in stamps catalog because it is usually a code added by the tobacco company to identify the provenance. So this code will identify the company and probably the warehouse. I have not seen any mention of these codes in Brandom or any other place. I don't think it is supposed to affect the value.

I seems to remember seeing a list somewhere... If I find it, I will give you the link.

As for the fact that it is a double print, well I guess that it must not be common but to whom would it be valuable? A collector of stamps for a specific company / warehouse? It is surely an oddity, but I cannot say if it really have value or not.

I understand pepere-jack

I wasn't going to part with it anyway. I thought it more an oddity.

If you find that link, that would be great, thanks.

I found what I was looking for, but it looks like there is not the information you need. This is a page on the Van Dam Web site that have some documentation on Tax Paid stamps. There are some tables on codes like these, but not on the "B-2" like you have.

The site is http://www.esjvandam.com/stampshows.htm. Maybe you can check them more in detail and find what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.
