Hey everyone:

I just joined this forum and am very excited to do so.

I have a world stamp album and know that Chinese stamps are "hot" at the moment.

There is one that caught my attention and it appears to be very old.

I was wondering if any of you out there would be able to identify the stamp and its possible value?

Thank you!

Hi mct,

This is a Japanese 3 sen stamp from 1900 celebrating the wedding of the crown prince. The design in the middle shows rice cake boxes.

The catalogue price would depend on the perforation but it's in poor condition so I wouldn't get too excited.

It's SG 152 / Scott #109 or one of the perf varieties.

The postmark is from Nagoya, the third largest city in Japan, so that won't save the stamp, I'm afraid.
