1939 "North Atlantic Air Service"

please take a look at this 1939 "North Atlantic Air Service" first day cover...The cancellation on the front as you cab see is the correct way, but the cancellation on the back of the envelope is backwards..Was that common back in 1939...???






HERE IS THE LETTER THAT WAS INSIDE..

In the process of cancelling the mail, a lot of the covers where piled in groups, on top of each other,bundled up etc for specific areas of distribution, and, as a result of the weight of them, covers just ahead of previous ones still had wet ink from the previous application and they caught on the covers above and appeared in a mirror image.

Just want to drop a few tags so I can find this wonderful cover again as I believe it relates to compressed political events leading up to WW2, namely the inauguration of the short-lived Pan-Am Clipper Service via the North Atlantic route (England-Ireland-Newfoundland-New Brunswick-New York) versus the route through the Azores and what the impact on commerce that these changes would entail as shown by the letter. If I'm not mistaken the Ridgeway Post Office, once known as Port Albino, is now part of Fort Erie.
