Scott 607a, a 1916 inverted surcharge, listed in Scott only recently. It took nearly 100 years to be discovered. This stamp was offered in the recent Nicholas Follansbee specialized Mexico auction and Nick stated in the item description "....this is the first I have seen in 44 years of involvement in Mexican philately." In his email to me, he said that there are 2 or 3 known. (Illustrated the error in top and the normal at bottom.)

Any idea what it sold for (it will be a week or two before Nick gets the invoices & prices realized out)? Maybe you were there or know someone who was? Thanks.

I bought it at $675+15%. I wanted this stamp and my bid was very high. I always use an agent at the auctions. I was surprized to obtain it so inexpensively. That is why Nick emailed me and said that I deserve the congratulations. Scott cat at $1500 in italics, which really doesn't mean anything.

Nick is an expert on the Mexico Revolution issues. His opinion is solid. I will sent it in for a MEPSI certificate once I receive the stamp. Nick is going to examine it anyway.

I got the prices realized today from Nick. Unfortunately, I fell short on my one bid. On to next year..........
