Is it possible to get residual self-stick adhesive off the front of a recent Canadian stamp safely?
Someone overlapped a bunch of self-stick stamps on a package. They are still sticky on the front after soaking. These are 2013 commemoratives so I am hankering to have them in my album!

Also, what about stamps that have scotch tape over them - shall I just discard these as damaged or is there a solution?
Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with the question you posed, but I thought this stock photo might be interesting to view.

I was surprised to see that Ashton Potter's printing of stamps (APU prints both US and Canadian stamps, I understand) uses a relatively crude way of labeling their stamps with a piece of (masking?) tape on each roll. I wonder if that has any lasting effects on the stamps that may ultimately be sold to collectors?

Very interesting photo, wt1. You'd think they would have them shrink-wrapped before putting tape on, but it doesn't look like there is any.

They may have used an artist/drafting tape. Not as aggressive as regular masking but does not leave sticky behind.

Scotch tape or Sellotape residue can be removed with white spirit, surgical spirit, and the more recent citric or orange cleaners. Do a first test on something cheap or already damaged.

I have used acetone very effectively.
Place the stamp in a small plastic container,
add a small amount of acetone, place lid on container
and gently swirl. The tape comes off in seconds.

They will probably be cut down into consumer sized rolls (like 100) before they can be shrink wrapped. Some tapes wouldn't leave any detectable residue.
