Is this picture below an example of ribbed paper..??..I have a couple of old stamps that have this backing.

wert-- I think this is a stitch watermark, not ribbed paper....

Correct ray.mac, this is stitch watermark, and a very good example for reference

Great stitch example-- looks like US 65 washington. Stitch was caused during paper making process so can be found on almost any country from that period . Canada seems to note them in unitrade where most other cats do not. Very small qty would ever have the stitch so almost a holy grail in stamp finds.
