The red dot to the left is a known variety however (only one stamp per sheet).

The dot is to the left of the arm (not on the coat itself).

Have seen a few of this unlisted variety. The cadet on the right side of the stamp has a vertical red line on his white belt.

This raises a new question - How many varieties/errors have to be found to move a stamp from unlisted to becoming an actual listed variety in a catalogue?

To get a variety listed, it would depend on the catalog and the editor. There are many more varieties in Canadian stamps than are listed in Unitrade. The editor(s) have to draw the line somewhere, but I am not sure of the exact criteria. It would be nice to know.

Gotta love this forum.

I have the red vertical line thriugh the solder's belt, but hadn't heard of it until today.

As it's the same stamp with a hickie on the "8", it is position 18.

Here's the red dot left of the solder's arm.

My understanding is that a "catalogued" variety is normally constant/common to the same position in multiples of the issued panes, coil strips, booklets, etc.

BlackJag, that is one of the criteria, but Unitrade also lists non-constant (inconstant?) varieties (that do not appear on each sheet).

I haven't gone out of my way to look for this variety but have a few. Black Jag is right it is position 18. I have 5 examples of this unlisted variety (vert red line on white belt).

Another unlisted EFO is on position 13 - hole in the corner of building just below the right tower. I have 4 examples of this variety so how common/uncommon is it.

This sheet actually has quite a few varieties.
This is an intentional one, with only one stamp per sheet. It is not listed for some strange reason, I would think it should be.

Signature "John"

I believe it is position 50

The "John" variety is position 42, which also has the "open window" variety.

The "Chinstrap" is position 44.

The "Spur on 8" is position 28.

The "Bug on flag" is position 40.

I don't have a position for "Torn flag".

The "Torn Sleeve" is position 11.

The "Flagstaff" is position 35.

The "1'876" variety is position 37.

and finally, the "UFO, left of building" variety is position 46.
