I'm sorry that I did not provide you with the value of your 20,000 stamps. I am only one person who participates on this forum. Perhaps others may want to help you.

I've always loved that final song of Monty Pithon's Brian's Life.
By the way, I'm neither American, nor retired; but very active and lively, regretting nothing but still fighting.

Pmats, sorry for some of the comments about your collection. I would have thought that here would be a good place to get basic advice, but some of the posters here seem to be rather rude (or perhaps simply blunt).

Based on your pictures, you have an accumulation that probably does not contain any high value stamps (though there may be some varieties mixed in - just like with coins). You would need to spend the time to investigate. If you don't have that time, based on what has been shown so far, you may wish to offer them to a trusted dealer (who will give you a price based on what he sees - it probably won't be high, but who knows).

The stamps seem to be well organized, so if you are willing to invest in some catalogs, you will be able to find out some information on the stamps. I don't collect world-wide stamps, but I was able to buy a used set of Scott WW catalogs for less than $10.

The albums/stockbooks the stamps are stored in could be worth some money if they are in good condition.

PS: I'm Canadian

3Dadeo, thank you for your response.

And sound good advice. Exactly what I was looking for.

My question "Are you guys American" was merely a question?

I like to think my original post was not harmful or rude.

My comment about retirment was childish.

Im young and have lots to learn.

I need to be careful how I speak to people. And how to react to certain situations.

Im sorry if I offended any one. (but not you the lord of the chumps)

Your advice was helpful 3Dadeo, thanks again.

I have taken no offence. I believe I provided you with the same advice as that Canadian fellow. I am actually considering changing my name to Lordofthechumps. It has a nice ring to it!

I love trolls.

"Trolling in asynchronous computer-mediated communication: From user discussions to academic definitions"

Application of the term troll is subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. Like any pejorative term, it can be used as an ad hominem attack, suggesting a negative motivation.

To the OP..........
In what country are you located? That information might help in figuring out some good suggestions for valuing/disposing of your collections.

Hello pmats, welcome.

To properly value your collection / accumulation we or you do need to have specialized catalogues, not general worldwide catalogues.

These cost a lot usually, although available used.

Generally, the better shape your stamps are in, the more value they have, or have the potential to hold, dependng on the market and supply and demand for any particular stamp or set of stamps or variety or error in printing, colour, paper, condition of paper, centerness of the design within the stamp, general shape and condition of the perforations (perfs) around the edges, etc, etc.

Any rips, tears, thins or creases devalue the stamp, usually by a lot, down to 10% of it's regular value.

A general cataloge like Scott, Stanley Gibbons or Michel will list only some of the varieties and values and colours and papers of a stamp.

The better informed you are the better you will be equipped to receive value from your stamps in the marketplace, which is usually priced below catalogue values, which are set by dealers usually.

Post your pics again here and lets see what you might have that warrants futherr investigation. I always enjoy looking at stamps, even though not everyone knows everything about every stamp or variety.
