, I can't see the reasons why 'some' members get sensitive about a title.

Reasons have been given. At least three members have suggested that titles be more informative. If you are unable to understand why cryptic titles are annoying then so be it. You seem to enjoy using them and will likely continue doing so. As I stated earlier I will simply ignore any post you initiate. I wish you well sir.

I'd like to also add my voice as one that would appreciative more descriptive Topic Titles. I have been trying to at least put in the Scott Number (though some people may prefer SG or other), a short description of the stamp itself, and then the issue or question. Sometimes I put a slight "teaser" in the topic title, but at least I made the attempt to slant the title to appeal to the correct audience.

Just my two cents.

I will simply quote from the rules.

Quote:
The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

Bad: Need Help
Better: Need Help with 10 Cent Stamp
Good: Need Help with US 10 Cent Stamp
Awesome: Need Help with US 10 Cent Air Mail Stamp

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.

The title of this book would seem a little cryptic to a new or non collector, but it does speak to it's target audience. What I really want to point out is the price. I assume most of these are just typos, but I see it quite often.

All I can say is, that with well over 3500 postings, I at least tried to be informative and helpful as possible in the past. None of my titles in the past were intended to offend anyone.

For the sake of the 'politically correct' in here, I will try to use basic titles.

Likewise, 'some' of you I will not bother responding to, for fear of offending them. Sorry it came to this.

As I understand the expression "Say what?" it is an exclamation of surprise, and a request to repeat something outrageous or extraordinary that has been said. So I see it as a reasonable title to have been used by Bujutsu to head up his post about an outrageous and extraordinary price for a publication obtainable at substantially lower prices elsewhere. Where a title is appropriate to a post I can see no reason for it not to be acceptable, and in this case ought to be accepted in the spirit it was used. Come on guys play nicely.

On the subject of odd titles, and not entirely off topic, here is one of my favourites.

Wow (oops, sorry for that expression). That's crazy and I really cannot understand why some people would ask such outrageous prices. In some instances, I can understand a mis-placed decimal, but, I am seeing this more often now and really have to question them.

The Amazon seller with the vastly overpriced Gibbons catalog also is selling other gems most used catalogs at ridiculous prices. I think booksellers in general are a bit 'loopy'. At least when it comes to philately they know nothing of the market. You can find some real bargains on Amazon, AbeBooks, etc in philatelic books but you also will notice many way overpriced. I think if they don't know much about the market they tend to set a high price to test it.

Only found out about AbeBooks a couple of months ago when I found a virtually unused copy of a Polish book for 1/3rd retail. Keep looking but be patient, it's all out there.

I can see agreeing to disagree or to have a difference of opinion on things, but your regular outbursts and personal digs are rather outside the spirit of this forum, lorddenning.
