Faten Hamama (1931-2015) was an Egyptian film and television actress and producer. Known as The Lady of the Arabic Screen, she has become an icon and the most important actress of Egyptian and Middle Eastern cinema.

Loki Schmidt, wife of Chancellor Helmuth Schmidt, was very well known in her own right for her work as teacher and activist for environmental protection. She was a dedicated botanist and several newly discovered species carry her name. None of the women featured on this DDR stamp of 1955 is famous for any particular reason, but it is International Women's Day today and it's good to see cooperation and trust between people from different parts of the world. Note "Fédération Démocratique Internationale des Femmes", FDIF with a Peace Dove on the flag. Best motif for today! 110 years since this day was planned!
