I purchased the Scott 2012 US Specialized for iPad 2 years ago and was pretty happy with the purchase at the time.

Now that it's 2013 and I no longer use my iPad, I'm a little more discontent with my purchase.

I really think Amos should model Amazon and have a "buy once, read anywhere" solution.

Sell the catalog on your web site (and avoid the 33% Apple tax), and then allow me to use it on iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and web. Hell you could offer to sell it, or rent it. For a reasonable monthly fee, you're guaranteed to get access to the new editions as they come out.

That's a solution Amos Digital could sell to other companies.
There is no reason the catalog should be trapped on my iPad.

Now that I own a Nexus 10 instead of an iPad, what are the plans for an Android version of the Scott Catalog app?

We'll see what they say.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a response. Amos has been very slow to update the app's many deficiencies, and I don't see them branching out to an Android- or Internet-based model any time soon.

Now that I've purchased two year's worth of various Scott volumes, I'm inexorably tied to the iPad for that. The only thing I do use the iPad for is the Scott catalog and taking my collection to shows. Otherwise, the thing sits in a drawer.

While a little bit time consuming, when I'm working on a certain company, I take the time to capture screenshots of all pages on the iPad, upload them to my Box account, then download them to my PC, convert them to PDF, combine, and OCR into a searchable PDF. Then I have a copy I can use anywhere.

It's somewhat time consuming, but only needs to be done once per country.

Just curious why you moved from the iPad to the Nexus 10?

Communicating to them that you are interested in a new platform for their product is certainly good feedback but be aware that this is not a 'write once, run anywhere' application.
You are asking them to make a substantial development investment in not only NRE (non-recurring engineering) costs but also a long term support commitment to specific platforms.
While this may indeed be a direction that they are willing to invest in it will not be a decision that is taken lightly and without a trusted return on investment.

1. It's so much easier to get stuff of an Android device than it is an iPad. Plug it into your computer and drag and drop.
2. Apps are not sandboxed, so multiple apps can see the same data.
3. Everything I Jailbroke my iPad for I could do on Android out of the box.

I'm debating buying the 2014 US Specialized in book form and staying away from Amos digital catalogs till they become from cross-platform.

Andy,

I am unaware of any plans to have an Android version.

However, I will pass on your suggestions.

Thank you for the feedback.

I'll stay with the paper catalogues... less hassle and always there.

I use both paper and software catalogs. I prefer using the print catalogs, but... the software catalogs are convenient when I'm on the road (I'm not lugging 8 volumes of Scott) and also convenient for certain types of searches.

I only have a simple cellphone, so I've never used the app versions.

Since I bought the 2013 paper catalog, it should come with a code to unlock the iPad version. Shouldn't have to pay for it twice.
