SG divide everything into sections in their Specialised Catalogues.
The "U" section is the Machin definitive issues with further sub-sections as in UA, UB, UC etc.
The "W" section is the Special Issues (commemoratives etc)

So, should I append W to my catalogue numbers on the previous pages?

Would these machins have different numbers assigned to them in the non-specialized catalogue?

No. Your previous post with the updates applies to the Specialised Catalog. The SG numbers that you have are adequate. In theory you could have the W numbers plus the equivilent SG numbers... I'll take the 1986 Christmas stamps as an example and it would be written .............

W677 (= S.G. 1341) 12p Gold (etc colors)
W678 (= S.G. 1342 13p (ditto)
and so on for the set

So, how do I find the SG regular numbers for these stamps, especially the machins and TARDISes?

EDIT: Ignore me, I found it! That page makes a hell of a lot more sense, now that I have your explanations! Thanks everyone for their help!

And, on another note...

I emailed Stanley Gibbons to ask for permissions to use their catalogue numbers. I offered to let them do a full page advert as page 2 of the stamp pages after the cover sheet to sweeten the deal.

I got a reply back next day, saying they would be more than happy to help me out, and are forwarding my request to their advertising department. Been 4 days now and still waiting for their advertising department to get back to me.

Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Ok, now I am having another problem. I am trying to find the SG equivalent number for the self-adhesive TARDIS stamp, which has a W number of W2737. I cannot find a matching SG number for this stamp. Is there always a matching SG number for a W stamps?
