Hello fellow collectors of SoS,
La Poste in France has had a new idea how to profit from the artistic heritage of former stamps of France. They presented in this year's Salon du timbre several "reprints" of famous former stamps which are still valid but with a negligible value in Eurocents.
The "new" stamps are sold in sheets (see photo above as example) at
a new price in Euros and normally valid. What is your opinion - are they stamps on stamps and should go into our collections?
Thank you for your comments!
Heinrich

Hello Heinz,

They are beautiful but perhaps not true stamps-on-stamps in my own opinion.

I do see how the new valuing can be thought of that way. Some USA stamps are like that I believe, the inverted Jenny for example.

The new Euro value would make them a retry of an older stamp, a reprint perhaps?

In the thread Collecting by Engraver were shown the Chilean Centenary stamps issued in 1910.
Well, for the Bicentennial of 2010 were issued these stamps reproducing the designs of the old series, this time printed in offset/litho.

Here is an image of an engraved stamp depicting a definitive stamp issued by Andorra in 1929 showing the General Council, Scott No. 22, and the coat of arms of Andorra, issued by Andorra (Spanish Administration) on September 7, 1982 to publicize the First Official Exhibition of Andorran Postage Stamps, Scott No. 148. Note: Scott Catalogue (2008 ed,) says that this stamp was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Andorran stamps, but surely that must be incorrect?
