How to tell difference between Germany Eagle with small shield and Eagle with large shield to aid in identification. I have no comparison copy and a contradiction in what I do have so not sure if I have 3 small or large shield stamps conclusively.

Are you talking about the 1872 issues?

I tried to type out descriptions, but I gave up. A picture is worth 1,000 words. Small shield on the left, large shield on the right.
