It's maybe the 0.63 cents stamps which I mistaken for 0.65 cents. Even with this Canada Post change, I guess that they don't have to suffer for it while most others do. Typical irresponsibility. With the big bucks should come big responsibility rather than the passing of the buck to customers.

Went to the P.O today and bought a couple new stamps, including the old 63c. Here are 3 scans for the envelopes I received.

Good to see they put the collectors packs back up. Also nice of them to pull them with no announcements a few months ago, forcing me to buy 2013-3 from a dealer at double cover price in the fear that they would never release them again. Also good for them to tell their employees nothing about this when I phoned them and the customer reps had no idea what I was talking about.

Funnily enough the collector packs are still available at the old prices; i.e. you can get postage at the old rates by buying these. I wonder for how long they'll be available...

So I just confirmed with my local post office clerk... some people are indeed appending - you guessed it - $1 worth of stamps to domestic letters. Well played Canada Post.

Here is a rate sheet pamphlet that was in our mailbox today...

This sheet is referencing the 85c rate first, with the $1 for single stamp purchases last.

I am reminded of the times I visit some of our local grocery stores. Some give multiple prices depending on the quantity you buy. Others have discounted prices if you have a 'club card'. My wife gets mad at me when I am not observant of these savings.

Canada Post is doing the same thing. In fact, they have had a two-tiered parcel rate system in place for years. Whether it is Canada Post or not, a consumer must be on their toes when buying things these days.

Went out today to purchase the 0.22 make-up rate stamp. Needed 178 of the them for my business. When to a postal outlet, at Shoppers, they were all sold out. Sent my wife to the Canada Post Office in town, they had 50 copies available, and won't be getting in anymore until next week. Was told to just continue using 0.63, as they will be giving everyone a 30 day grace period. As long as it is put into a local pick-up box. If you drop at Canada Post, they will ask you for the make-up rate.
