How many people do you get watching your auction items? I have 14 right now on one. But 3 years ago I got around 20 on better items. Also the prices of modern has gone way up. All the varieties etc. Also people using SMQ for pricing on XF-VF. Or number grading.

Everything depends on the item....
common items will get very few watchers...if any.
I had a item end about 10 days ago....it had 80 watchers...all in a 7 day
listing period.
That is the most I can recall on one of my items.
I had a faulty #2 end yesterday....had 30 watchers....more watchers that bids.
As for as SMQ values....I think they should ONLY be used if you have a PSE cert
with that grade. Everyone tends to overgrade....
I can guarantee 99.99% of the time someone who is using SMQ values...
CANNOT get a cert with the grade for the value they are staating.

Once you get regular customers you can have a regular following for the items they are interested in.

Otherwise it's as good as I look in the mirror the morning I list the items. Without any follow-up changes of course.
