Found scott #1 and #2 on ebay, would any one really sell these? I'm watching to see what they will actually go for. They almost don't look real, with a bid of $61.00 for both. Also saw scott #1 it was in pretty rough shape but it looked real. I wish I would of saved both the auctions but now I can't find the second one to compare the 2 auctions. Being a very casual collector it just caught my interest.

The seller has 100% feedback. They also have some other stamps currently listed. They both appear to be the original issue. I do not have a #2 nor have I ever seen one in person. Haven't bid on one and haven't studied one. In other words I don't know diddly.
I do see that the lower left frame line underneath the right leg of the X is shifted. Re-engraved? It's looks like a really nice stamp. with 5 days left that price should probably more then triple where it is now ($61.00) Maybe 250 |

Carabop,
I believe the items are completely authentic and the auction format is common. Many dealers sell items with a .99 starting bid and let the chips fall where they may. The number 1 has average margins and should sell for ~$100 by itself. The #2 looks quite nice and should sell for ~$500-$600 by itself. Selling them during the holidays may work against the seller, however, as potential buyers may be short of $$. I estimate this lot will sell for $550-$600, with the bulk of the bids coming on the last day.

$132.00 with 3 1/2 days to go. Looks like my estimate will be low. Which explains why I don't have a #2. |

I agree with Rileysan, this offering will hammer at a much higher amount. My guess is that they will go north of $900 even with the holidays and lack of additional images.
IMO when selling stamps like these you are far better off really showing the stamps in detail; including using an LED backlight to illustrate their soundness. Without this seller is asking that buyers take a bit of a risk by tying up money/time if they have to return the items; this tends to hold bids down. don |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...281228849086To give you an idea.... I have sold this #2 4 days ago....there are 2 sm tears. I tried to show the top tear by opening it up to show bidders. This item will look good mounted.... My point...still went for $166....so a nice #2 AND #1 should do much better... Also...started at 99c. My guess for the 2 items...$655. |

Did you see what I mentioned about the lower left frame line jog?
Kevin504, you're sheetguy, that's awesome. You are now in my sellers to follow list. |

That #2 is really nice, even with the crease. My guess is that the two of them go for $675. |
