I'll be there on Saturday along with a couple of friends from TN. I hope everyone finds what they are looking for.

It was great meeting up with friends at the show. Several Postal History dealers and I made several deposits into their accounts. I also got a nice block of 4 of Scott #24 at a fair price. My best purchase was a set of "The Travers Papers" and a book about "The U.S. Five Cent Stamps of 1856-1861" by Hill.

However, the thing that really got me was the number of empty frames in the display area.I would guess that it was around 20% empty which I think is an indicator of two things. 1st is the decline of members in our hobby 2nd is the decline of advanced collectors. Typically, its the advanced collector who has the material for a display. It takes a long time to build a collection that just has enough quality material. The APS is trying to make the rules easier to follow and I think I may be ready to take the plunge. I have several curles and cracks on cover to make a one frame display and perhaps next year's show will be the time to put it out. I may not be too advanced but I have some interesting pieces.
How does "Curled, Cracked & Scratched" sound for a title?

Art:

Do you think the weather affected attendance.

I considered going but between the bad weather here in western North Carolina and the fact that people in Atlanta go insane when it snows, ....

Well, I decided to stay home.

Art,

I would really encourage you to try your hand at exhibiting. I have found it extremely rewarding and it has benefited my collecting. I really understand my material better having exhibited and my collection is now deeper on account of same. Additionally, it is a terrific way to meet people at shows and form relationships that will surely enhance your appreciation of the hobby.

best,

Larry

The weather was great. Not an issue at all. I'm back in PA and the temp was 53 at 5:00 and they are calling for up to 8" of snow on Monday! And people wonder why I live In The South? I can live with snow every 3 years.

I left the show after about 3 hours. I spent my budget, checked the displays, met some friends and went home. I can't say poor attendance I wasn't there long enough.
