I thought I might have commented on this before but couldn't find the thread.

Seems to me that asking prices for Newfoundland stamps are rising very rapidly and have been doing so for several months. Is this my imagination or are other Newfoundland collectors noticing this as well. I was able to buy several 1861 pence issues for $20 or less a year ago and not possible now it seems. Even forged copies of some of the airmail overprints seem to be priced outrageously??

Any comments?

Man alive, I have been buying! Still many holes to fill. I just got a MNH F/VF or VF, not sure, scott 45, for $42.85 from an ebay seller that I trust. I don't have a new Scott catalogue but that has to be a high percentage of so-called cat value.

Is it investors everywhere having Newfoundland recommended to them? Stanley Gibbons?

I am certainly not an investor, I just like the looks of them and the fact that there are not gazzillions of new issues coming out. Of course there are some that I will never be able to afford.

My Newfoundland collection is pretty decent; nothing like Tommy's, but still pretty nice. Still holes to fill but now looking like they will remain holes. Yakboomer, if your #45 is well-centred, it was probably a really good deal. Adding in the premium suggested in my 2012 Unitrade for MNH VF, the stamp is worth about $90 but this is two year-old pricing.

I started haxagon (6-sided) cancels this way also! Well, I thought it would be a small thing. . . and then came the otehr cancels!

Wish I still had Newfounland to sell now.
