Scott #97

1˘ Cartier & Champlain

Major Re-entry

There is evidence of a misplaced entry showing in the 'A' of CANADA, the 'POS,' of POSTAGE some of the letters of ONE CENT, the outer left& right margin, and in bottoms of the lettering in CENTENAIRE DE QUEBEC. Mis-placed entries galore! I do not see a similar example listed anywhere. A new discovery?

I am not very familiar with Canadian stamps other than I think the older ones are just downright beautiful! Having said that I would like to put the plate scratch that I see in the ".....A POS." in an EFO collection! Other than that I see nothing special that does not show in almost every older stamp.

Yes Wert I have compared this stamp to the Scott 97's that Ralph has on his site. Notice how the line goe's right through the bottom of the "Q" of Quebec.

All these re-entries you think that you have come across...have you ever sent Ralph any of them to have him tell you what he sees...???
Can you post a closeup of theword Centenaire...?

What I see is a possible cracked plate. Uncertain about a misplaced entry or re-entry. If you can, post more closeup shots of other parts of the stamp.

Sure Wert here is the best pic I have of CENTENAIRE right now. Did not have much light today to get really good pictures.

I did not get many good pictures today because it was cloudy and snowing so my nuclear lamp was dim. Hoping for sun tomorrow.

I confess a wondering shake of the head for the whole fascination with re-entries. Something that really can't be seen with the naked on - and very hard to prove - just don't get it. But hey. To each his / her own.

Perhaps someone can help me with this one. It seems to be a little different than the one above!

I couldn't resist this... but I want never to undermine the high quality of comments in this forum. Just a tease. (I'll try to behave!)

I have taken some better pics now and agree no re-entry, but the marks in A-POS are a great feature on this stamp. Is this a plate scratch or cracked plate?

This is either a 'cracked' plate or minute traces of 'hairlines'.
