Having just returned from a frustrating number of trips to post offices at retail stores as well as Canada Post outlets only to discover that the quarterly packs for last year are almost non existent. In fact the July September version has according to one helpful person has been called back by the post office. Has anyone else experienced this? I live west of the GTA [Toronto].

Only the 2013/04 Quarterly Pack is available via the Canada Post website, and only this one should also be available at postal outlets.

All other quarterly packs were taken off sale on December 11, 2013, along with all Permanent(tm) stamps due to the pending rate change.

Here on the prairies, it is hit and miss finding the 2013/04 pack. Some post offices are selling them, others are out of stock, and others refuse to sell them because their "manager said so".

I suspect that they will be back on sale as of March 31, 2014 after the new 85c rate takes affect (with a price increase on the packs of course to allow for the new rate).

Yes, this caught many of us by surprise. I guess the lesson is, buy them immediately not once every year or two like I did. I managed to find a 2014/3 pack on ebay for an outraguous price but I needed it for the Superman issue us a South of the Boarder types were not allowed to buy. I sure hope the others do come back ... It's pure profit for CP so, why not?

I did the same thing. I was also missing the 2013/3 Superman pack because I usually buy them once every summer. I paid "only" twice the cover charge from one of the few online dealers I could find. I am going to be a bit pissed if they bring them back unchanged in a few months. Unbelievably stupid decision of Canada Post to pull these packs.

Really hard to argue with that! They represent pure profit. What were they thinking?

Probably some bureaucrat saw that they had "P" stamps in them and since they were told to stop sales of "P" stamps, these were pulled. The logic that the mass public would spend $15-$40 for a package of stamps in order to get one or two "P" stamps seamed reasonable to them.

Gee, I've never seen "logic" and " Canada Post" used together.

If Canada Post thinks that such petty maneuverings will attract business then like the rest of the outfit they are out of touch. Philately in Canada can be resurrected if quality over quantity is brought back into the equation. The fools who run the post office in Canada do not get it.

The Superman quarterly packs are still available at post offices in the Vancouver area (as of last week when I last checked).

Great. The online dealer who sold me the Superman one for twice the issue price must be laughing at me. I had thought of asking my sister or brother to look for m but they are busy doing their own thing. Oh well. Thanks Canada Post.

When I hear of "such petty maneuverings" as this, it makes me glad that I gave up on trying to buy all of the newer issues.

Good shot, KD; Canada Post and logic in the same sentence are a rare pairing.
