This is going to drive me crazy, so before I have to get myself checked over for a possible section 8, can you guys let me know if I'm not crazy in saying there is absolutely nothing to see on this stamp out of the ordinary? I have a #276 Princess Elizabeth specimen that is appended to a hinged album page but in a separate mount. Next to the mount is scribbled what seems to be "ERREUR . JOUE DR", which is French for "Error . Right Cheek".

So I am pouring over my scans of this stamp looking for a dot or anything unusual on either of her cheeks *hee hee* and I even scanned a side by side copy that I interposed in Photoshop and went back and forth and found nothing.

I've admitted over and over I am just pathetic at spotting errors and flyspecking, so maybe one of you folks might see something I am not.

The images are pretty large:

Here is a 2400 DPI scan of the stamp:

And this is a 1200 DPI scan of the error stamp on the left and a regular one on the right:

Am I really this blind?!

Dan

Only thing I see is possibly a very light smear of black ink from the cancelation.

Agree that it is from the cancellation. It looks like a small spot on her left cheek (right from our viewpoint).

Exactly, that's the only thing I could see, which certainly is not an error of any kind lol! OK thanks for confirming... going to put her highness in with the bulk used pile ;)

Could this be a slip print? It appears that the entire stamp shows duplicated/upper shifted blue color, especially visible on the Queen's face and forehead....

It may not be anything, but her right eye seems to be brighter than the left.

On the top of the pearl necklace on her right side (which is our left side) there appears to be a round clasp that is not found on the other stamp in the same spot.

That I did notice, but just figured it was due to ink application and plate position etc.

I see the smudge, but there may also be a missing engraved line associated with the smudge?

Does the one on the left seem a little bit darker than the one on the right?

Ah! The number 4 and the cent sign are different. You have to look carefully, but I think that there are thickness differences.

Setting aside for a moment the fact that while I was studying them, the Princess on the right winked at me, I seem to perceive a difference in the white space on her right cheek next to the hair line. If you look at the right-hand stamp and starting with the dot on the very end of her nose and count up to the fifth contour line that slopes downward toward her hair to our left, that line is noticeably longer and terminates closer to her hair than the one on the left-hand stamp. In fact all of the dots and lines within the white space seem more sparse - but I suppose that may be just a function of more or less ink being applied to the plate between the two impressions.
