Where can I find a list of stamps issued in the US for a specific year (reason in comments)

Hi guys. I am looking for a specific stamp I purchased as a child.  It is a kind of a weird story but back in 1994-1995 my father was in the hospital and in the waiting room there was a venting machine that sold stamps.  My brother and I purchased purchased a book of stamps.  This was the same year my father passed away so these stamps sort of hold a place in my heart.  Being so young, I miss placed my book of stamps and probably threw them away.  He has kept his.

I am trying to find a list of stamps that were issued in this specific year in the US.  I was able to find information about his stamp (the blue dove shown in the pictures)  but I cannot seem to find mine.  I do not quite remember how my stamp looked like.

The details I remember are vague but I think it was  a stamp of a FISH.  I believe it was orange or red.  Bare with me since I was only 5 years old at the time.  I know if I see the stamp, I would remember it (at least I'm hoping).

Does anyone have any suggestions where I should look? I ordered a stamp book from the year 1994 and I had no luck.

Thank you!

this is the stamp. I took a block from my brother a long time ago and kept it in my wallet. when he gets home tonight I will ask to see his complete set.

i did order 1 from ebay a few years ago and it came in a back that looks like it could have been used in a vending machine

There were some great fish on stamps in 94, scott #s 2863-2866, that are called "wonders of the sea". I don't have photos, but perhaps someone here can provide them. Good luck!

It is very possible that the vending machine had stamps that were older ... maybe as much as 5 years, so you may want to broaden your search a bit. I'll do some looking tonight also.

I am sure once you post a picture, others will find this stamp very quickly. If you simply want to browse a catalog to see if you can find the picture, (I know you have a text listing as provided in the link above), you could try the Mystic stamp company. (mysticstamp.com). If you select the online catalog on the left side of the page you well see all US stamps in order. You can page through the list but I suggest you use the go to page option and select page 87(or close to that area) you will see stamps from that period. As noted above, you may have to go backwards as well to see your stamp. I am sure there are other ways and likely faster ones but this one is free and may help. I am not associated to mystic I just thought it would provide a picture view of the stamps.

You might want to browse at this link for the stamp you are looking for. Don't pay much attention to the prices, as this site has listed them rather high as compared to what they sell for from other sources:

Glad you found it but that stamp wasn't released in booklet form. Are you sure what you bought was a booklet?

Mike, I just realized this when I went to ebay. I remember it was folded (must have been. my brothers stamps were in a book or folded when he bought them (he still has his intact).

is it possible these were folded? if not, then I think I might have mixed up a fish with another memory of my dad giving me stamps after helping him recycle some stuff.

That pumpkin sunfish stamp was used a lot in that period I assume to pay the first ounce international rate - I was living in France in 1994-95 and if I remember right, I would get a lot of letters from home posted with that little guy.

desii,

When I hear booklet stamps with fish on them, I always think of these, but they are from 1986.

Do these look familiar?

I don't have a picture, but could it be the fishing lures set of 1991 (Scott 2545 - 2549)?

thanks guys, but those arent the the stamps. I want to say the pumpkin sunfish is the closest to what I had in mind but the only thing holding me back is the stamp was not offered as a booklet. I will have to do some more research and look through more stamps to see if anything else rings a bell.

thank you everyone for the advice and suggestions.
