A comical look at the recent USPS rate increase to 49-cents for a first class letter:

Or what a lot of people have done is to turn to the internet where you can send a note, memo, or letter, and pay a bill online. The writing of letters is a thing of the past.

"The writing of letters is a thing of the past"

How outdated, don't they know now you just send poorly spelled, no grammer, tiny little text messages from your phone...while you're driving through a parking lot now? What's a stamp?

I find watching the evening news really helps to put the price of mailing a letter into perspective. Hundreds of thousands killed or displaced in Syria. The people of the Philippines struggling to rebuild after Typhoon Haiyan. Demonstrators in Ukraine spending the night in subfreezing weather to protest the government. And in the United States, the price of a postage stamp just went up 3 cents.

Yeah yeah, letters and what not are a thing of the past. No denying that BUT think of the protections offered by the USPS that are not offered through electronic outlets. I am not a tin foil hat guy, but with all of this NSA stuff and the breach at Target, the USPS has stringent policies in place for the protection of the mail that they carry. Kind of wild that they haven't transferred over to the e world.

But the USPS is still telling the NSA who is sending you mail, I don't trust their "protections".

That author must read SCF -- his opening paragraph is from my Dad, a story I've told here a couple times.
