Here is a postal stationery cover sent by airmail from Ulan Bator, Mongolian People's Republic (MPR in cancel), USSR to NYC, New York, USA on December 10, 1956. Franking is 1.50 rubles.

Ulan Bator is now Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia. It claims to be the coldest capital city in the world.

There are 2 actual errors in the message

First, Mongolia, though being a close satellite and strongly dependent state, was not a part of the USSR (or Soviet Union), neither at the time when the cover was posted, nor earlier or later. Formally, it was an independent state.

Second, the face value of the stamps and indicia of the cover are not in rubles, they are in mongo, fractional parts of tugrik, the Mongolian currency. So the rate was 150 mongo, or 1.5 tugrik.

The USSR vs. China "Cold War" led me to an incorrect conclusion.

Here is an "answer card" (Michel #P117A) sent from Braunsberg, East Prussia (now Braniewo, Poland) in response to a request for confirmation of transfer of funds by American Express Company in Berlin.

The two unseparated cards ("Frageteil" + "Antwortteil" - the one shown here) were mailed to Braunsberg, and the "answer card" was separated, filled out and returned. The unseparated, used cards are naturally much tougher to find.
