It seems that lately I've been getting a fair amount of single stamps with the plate number and extra perf on them and I never seem to have the right size precut mount. I end up using a standard size and then just throw away the excess. Is this the way others do it?

I used to do this, but have moved to the Prinz or Hagner stock-book sheets, which I prefer to the mounts. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes if you have multiples as well as singles in a set, or if you want to include large notes or annotations for varieties, postmarks, etc. but I'm happy to live with this for the convenience of the sheets.
