I was surprized to see the $8 definitive Grizzly Bear with a "P" domestic rate on a pre stamped envelope. Having no interest in pre stamped envelopes my first thought was "Why did the sender use an $8.00 stamp to mail this letter"

CP those guys are crazy.......I guess they liked the design.

Why would a letter be pre-stamped with an $8 value anyway? Where would it be going? Besides,I can't see an $8 value printed on the stamp. Is that common practice with Canadian stamps? If so might that explain the the letter sender's error.

In early 2012, Canada Post issued a set of 9 different, size 10 envelopes, replicating the recent high-value wildlife stamp designs. Each envelope was denominated with the Permanent(tm) rate.

The replicated stamps did not show the original stamp denomination.

For a collector of the "lick and stick" stamps, these envelopes are a natural addition to ones collection.
