An interesting study in some proposed artwork for various 21st century US Stamp designs that were never used:

There are a couple that I liked better than anything else that I have seen the post office issue in the last few years. There was one however where Santa looked pretty creepy.

I agree with the above responses - some of these look very good, if not better than some of the stuff the USPS has been issueing! I especially like the set of Indian Tribes!

Some of these are alternate designs I believe, such as when some states have multiple designs and pick one for stamps, or as they do for coins too.

But the 4 Lincoln stamps are haunting, examine his change from 1863 to 1865.

I really liked this a lot. Great graphics that consistently beat the USPS. My favorites were the Phil Ochs and the progressive Lincolns. Show me More!

I was thinking that the Ben Franklin statue stamp would make a good second ounce rate stamp when the postage rates rise again (and they will). We had George Washington at 20c; Abraham Lincoln and 21c; so it would make sense that Ben Franklin would be on the next second ounce rate.
