Seeking Information For All Stamps Issued In A Given Year

I am thinking about putting together a set of all the stamps issued in the world for the year I was born. Short of browsing through all of the Scott's catalogs is there anything online that makes it easier?

This is a rather quick exercise with Michel's online catalogue. I can provide a list of issues, due to the catalogue's origin in German, so you get an idea. Mail me off-board if interested.

An exciting project for sure! Scott's is probably your best bet - but I'd suggest you should also put some parameters around your plans:

mint and / or used?
include:
back of the book?
errors, variations and varieties?
coils and precancels?
souvenir sheets?
booklets?
overprints?

Every collector - in my view - needs to establish borders - if you want to define a target that is reachable - and that will not cost a million dollars.

Although it is only US regular/commemoratives stamps you can use a database that I built to list all stamps for a given year.

I don't know what year you were born, but Scott's International album might be of assistance. Starting with 1978, each year has its own supplement and contains virtually every stamp issued that year. You would have your album and could see the stamps you need right there. If you were born before then, most of the supplements contain 2-3 or more years, so that option might not be as useful. I greatly appreciate all the advise and food for thought on doing this not to mention the links. I probably should have mentioned the year I am going to work on is 1960.
