i guys...I looked at this German stamp and what I see is double perforation or looked like stamp on stamp..even though it isn't...And on the back it has it's original gum...but the gum lines go across the stamp. Is that normal..??
A hard-core fly-speccer vs German Weimar era stamps. That's akin to matching an unstoppable force against an immovable object. This should be fun to watch!
Hi Wert, I believe there are perforation varieties for that stamp and it might be worth checking into but generally a very common stamp in mint condition. Basically, during the hyper-inflation period they couldn't keep up printing the new higher values so overprints like this were used on lower values and even then by the time they went on sale they would be worthless. Mint hyper inflation is easy, getting good used copies can be more difficult. I think the thin bands of adhesive was just a money saving strategy of the time. Mark
