Here is an interesting stamp. The middle one has the narrow one variety, but note the add'l dot in the 1. I have similar dots on 1, but on Number 28 (12 1/2 large queen)

Looks as if it might have been slightly overinked.

In fact, focus on the center stamp and look at the "C" in "CANADA" ... it seems to give the same "bleed" effect into the letter.

Not so sure about that Gilles le timbre..Take a look at the picture below..I measured both "1" and as you see at the bottom, they are two different measurements...Just my opinion..And I have been known to be wrong..

Correct Wert. I have been looking for a long time for this "narrow 1" variety in pair. When I saw this in group of 3, from Eastern Auction I could not resist. It filled just another hole in my collection. (See Unitrade catalogue, no. 228iii)

It does say in the Unitrade Canada catalog that 228ii (pair with normal) and 228iii (in jump strip of 4 with 3 normal) has a narrow 1 variety.
