Fascinating stamp. I do not collect France, but already see one potential issue with this stamp. Looking at the back of the stamp, on the top margin, there is ink that appears to have migrated over from the front, which is suspicious. If I were to bet on it, I would say this stamp is a forgery.

The paper doesn't look right for this stamp (Scott#8/9). At best it could it be a cut square from a prepaid envelope or newspaper wrapper and at worst printers waste or fake.
If genuine and without the damage it would be worth many $1000's so a cert would be required.

It is a forgery, even used the wrong type of cancel, the Gros Chiffre Numerals didn't come into usage until much later,

Pay the 5 bucks and get a positive ID to be sure? If it is a fake or forgery then you can either keep it or maybe send it to the APS for their reference library of fakes and forgeries? Just a thought? Cool looking stamp though?

Thank you guys for your kind replies, in Italy for an appraisal costs a lot, for a negative appraisal at least 100 Euros depending on the value of the stamp, if it was good before I go to the bank to apply for a mortgage, then pay the appraiser.
I would like to send it to an expert French where the stamp is born but do not know anyone Best regards Simone

Here is another 1 FR, which I consider fake, though there seems to be some kind of expert's mark on the reverse. Please pass judgements.

pisti,

don't waste your money paying for a certificate, it is a poor quality forgery, no use spending good money after bad,
