After I ended up selling my previous Berlin Private post item I decided I still wanted an private postal item from Berlin.

Dated March 18, 1895.

Any chance on knowing the name of the packet mail company that produced this card?

I think it is "Berliner Packetfahrt Actien-Gesellschaft."

Hi smauggie,
if the information in my old Behrends-Album is still correct, the original company was Druckschriften-Expedition (J.J. Schreiber), but some years later (1888 ?) changed to what trainwreck wrote.
Enjoy!
Heinrich

At some point the company was known as "Neue Berliner Omnibus- und Packetfahrt-Actien-Gesellschaft." I have two similar stamps depicting the Berlin lion inscribed with these two company names. I believe there are one or more discussions about these local stamps on SCF.

I just found some notes on the company on my computer:

Ende der Briefbeförderung am 31.März 1900. Die Packetfahrt erledigte in den letzten Jahren vor dem Verbot der privaten Briefbeförderung ca. 60% des Berliner Ortsbriefverkehrs.

Für die Aufgabe dieses lohnenswerten Hauptgeschäftszweigs wurden die Aktionäre mit 2.700.000 Mark von der Reichspost entschädigt.

It can be difficult to distinguish these issues because there are numerous tiny differences in font, print sizes, etc. But... I think this is yours.

And smauggie, if you decide to collect these, let me know. I have an extra copy of the catalog.

These can be found in Müller's Ganzsachenkatalog der deutschen Privatpost, 1873-1914 (Postal Stationery of the German Private Post, 1873-1914).

It's a 4-volume catalog. Volume 1 is Aachen-Dreden, Volume 2 is Düren-Lübeck, Volume 3 is Magdeburg-Zwickau, and Volume 4 is just the Packetfahrt Berlin.

Volume 4 was just released, and I haven't received my copy yet. I'm assuming it's just a more detailed listing of the Packetfahrt Berlin, which are listed in some detail in Volume 1. The one volume of which I have an extra copy is Volume 1.
