I have the following 2 pairs of Imperforate Hamburg stamps that appear like Scott numbers 24 and 25 but they are imperforate rather than rouletted. I also do not find any reference to imperforate varieties in the "Reprints" notes. Is anyone familiar with these varieties? Are they modern fakes?

They are listed in Michel German Specialized catalogue, Band 1. There seems to be a number of types and I'm not too familiar with these issues. Hopefully someone else will add to this, but they do exist as imperforates! Scott is not really a good catalogue to use when it comes to German related stamps.

Forgeries ,they are common as imperfs on the 1866 issue .Yours could be retouched reprints .The reprints don't have the white dot in the center of each star ,and your scan would have to be more clear to identify that.

Ouch... What an eye opener. I have some Hamburg stamps for sale on ebay among other states that I'm deeply re-evaluating as to being genuine. I've collected Germany and area for several decades and never heard or read about any of this before despite having many Michel, Yvert and Scott catalogues. I want to do the right thing as far as selling legitimate stamps but I'm just now finding this to be a very large mine-field without a map.

Forgeries are so common with German States issues that, as a general rule, I assume all are forgeries in the absence of proof that they're not. Probably the only area of German collecting I do that.

Feel free to post them here if you'd like us to take a look.
