I had my gall bladder out on Monday and of course I am the exception to the rule and not having a very easy recovery. I was completely out of commission until today.
I'm feeling ok today and I think I've gotten caught up on things except avatars. I'm going to see if I can do some of them today also.

I had my gall bladder out April 1, 1977. A very painful recovery especially when I laughed. You will not miss it. |

Gall bladder removal today, for most people, is pretty much a breeze. They did it outpatient, it was only about four hours from the time I left my house until I was home. It's just four small incisions now. But like I said, I am the exception. |

Glad that you are up and about again, Bobby!
Yeah, sometimes it takes longer. My mother and one of my sisters have had gall bladders removed. Surgery is now quick and the incisions are small, but sometimes the recovery gets a little rough. My sister recovered quickly. My Mom was hospitalized for 2-3 days, and it took her 1-2 weeks before she could move about normally. But in the end, neither of them miss their gall bladder.
It may be rough, but still worth it!
Best wishes for a complete recovery and great results!

Bobby: I had my gall bladder out about 2 years ago. I thought I was going to the ER with some kind of respiratory infection, and didn't come out of the hospital until a week later without a gall bladder!
Like you, I was also told that it's just a straightforward thing, and that many people even go to work the next day. Boy, that was not the case with me. I did not feel anywhere close to right for 2-3 weeks afterward, and was still aware of it for maybe 2-3 months afterward. Now, I don't even have any scars that show from it.
I describe all this to reinforce what others have said, that, although it may be easy for some, it is not for others. (I think part of depends on how early they catch it. In my case, I had such an infection that they couldn't even operate until 5 days after admittance.)
This is not to discourage you at all, but rather to affirm that, even if the going is a little rough right now, it will get better fairly soon, and eventually just be a distant memory.
Wishing you a speedy and full recovery!

Bobby, Glad you feel a little better from your procedure. Also glad to hear you will be working on avatars instead of catching hard cork & string, leather bound objects thrown at you. Anyway, take it easy, everyone can wait until you feel well. Besides you always take care of us anyhow. Thanks for that. Respectfully, Gary |

Of course the new gall bladder surgery is orthoscopic, isn't it? when mine was taken out in 1977 a large incision was made in my abdomen and healing time was measured in months. The same with my first knee surgery. I was on crutches for weeks and complete healing was measured in years. My second was done on a Friday and I was back at work on Monday. Interesting medical breakthroughs. |
