The reason I keep a list of books on a spreadsheet is to insure that I don't get duplicate copies. This usually works pretty good. But, because I'm in an airport nearly every week I sometimes bid on a book that sounds interesting and end up winning it. Then, when I get home I enter the reference work into my library list only to find out I duplicated it.

So, the question is, what do you do with your duplicates when you have one? Typically, I give them away to a friend.

If stamp related, a duplicate book usually goes to the next club meeting and placed on a "free" table to be taken by anyone. If it has some special value, it is sometimes auctioned off with the other stamps from that day. Non-stamp related items are given to friends, or donated to Goodwill, Salvation Army.

I most often end up with extra catalogues either by way of upgrading, or accident. Most recently, I won ebay auctions for two of the same catalogue because I bid on two different lots (putting in ridiculously low bids on each, I thought). The extra copies first end up in my office so I have a reference here. If I have any more than 2 copies, I take them to my club, the Oregon Stamp Society, and give away the extras.
