Interesting card on a couple of counts:
1. The stamp appears to have a UP perfin (Union Pacific Railroad). I wonder why?
2. The name written within the text on the card (Mrs. Van Driver) and also handwritten on the advertising side of the card, is a bit interesting based on this quote from a biography of Adlai Stevenson:
Quote:
Buffie (Ives) came and stayed for long periods, to serve as the governor's official hostess while Ellen remained in Libertyville. She lived there most of the time after the divorce, when Adlai rented his Libertyville farm to Marshall Field, Jr. At the same time she ran her homes in Bloomington and in Southern Pines. It was she who managed the mansion's domestic arrangements, working with Mrs. Van Diver, the housekeeper whose husband, a state police captain, was the governor's chauffeur; and with Gertie Dent, the cook.
