Ok a clue as to which stamp I am referring to. There has been only one sheet reported with a V.G. Greene certificate issued. |

Second row first stamp on the left...seems like you are missing part of the flag... |

Gilles le timbre good eye you got it right! Scott 1673iv "1C Book Binding" Missing grey colour on numeral "1", Catalogue at $400.00. Only one sheet of 100 reported with certificate from the V.G. Greene Foundation. I believe there were at least a couple of sheets because I now have 5 singles. Doe's anyone have a match for the Dot over 17 as it looks like a possible variety? |

CoinWatcher...I have found something strange with your "missing gray" stamp...I ran it through my software and noticed that the word "Canada" was the same colour as the edge of the stamp, which is normal..But the number 1" is a shade darker that Canada, indicating a different colour...Is it a light shade of gray and you were expecting a darker shade...Not disputing your findings, just curious..see picture below.. |

wert, why would the skin coloured fingers also come out blue? Could it mean there was a light aplication of grey, or another colour? Here is a close up of the "1" taken in bright sunlight. Looks white to me. Thanks for checking it out, maybe there is a logical reason for this effect. |

Ok..I isolated the "1" and a couple of letters..I increased the 3D effect and tried to concentrate on 'GRAY" colour...The RED arrow shows a gray compound and the BLUE arrows don't show it..Hey, you got the stamp in your hand, I am just trying to understand it..Thats all..GREAT FIND CoinWatcher |

That is vey cool wert and very interesting that there appears to be a trace of the grey colouring while not showing to the naked eye or in high quality well lighted photos. Could this mean that possibly the "Missing Grey" is actually not missing at all, but a wrong ink application? Here is a pic I borrowed to show the proper colouring of the "1", with colour key on right. |

I really don't know CoinWatcher...It looks to the eye that the gray is definitely missing, but the my analyzing software says there is a trace of gray on the "1"...It could be a bad reink in the printer's tray which holds the ink, it could be a mistake and the wrong colour gray was added to a run, but, hey, I think you have a NO GRAY stamp..I am no expert...nice stamp. |
