I take it you mean uncanceled stamps? They are a bit of a scourge, I agree, but anyone not directly involved in stamp collecting will probably have no clue what the problem is. Stamps on cover from Canada, Great Britain and less so from the United States go through the mails uncanceled. If you are like me, looking for nice cancels, it is quite frustrating. |

In the USA, the non-profit pre-sorted mail routinely shows-up with that stamp uncancelled, presumably because its reuse on everyday non-pre-sorted mail would be easily caught.
There is a country-western song with the refrain "If today were a fish, I'd throw it back".
Cheers,

The main culprits I have personally found for not cancelling their mail is Canada, U.S., GB, Ireland and Australia. It is also interesting to note, that NZ isn't too bad for this. I have received different items of mail from there, all with neat cancellations.

Hi all, Thankyou for the replies, I personally feel cheated when a stamp comes back uncancelled as I like to see all the different ways they have been cancelled, Turbo |

Occasionally I regard uncanceled mail as a bonus. No wavy lines, no unwanted slogans, no obliterated stamps. I take the uncanceled post to my local Post Office and get them done. Nice circular postmarks placed as I want them. But,as to the original question... I dump them as I cannot be bothered taking them off for re-use. I suppose I only send a dozen or so letters etc a year. |

Thankyou all for the replies, I once tried to get the post office lady to stamp it for me, she told me to send it in the post again and it should get franked, I did send it to myself again, and typically it came back unfranked/cancelled, I then gave it to the charity shop. Take care all, Turbo |

Have a buyer who wants mint no mint in the 1,000's as in the middle east he has a dealer contact that likes to buy them as he has many buyers who like cheap stamps to add to their mint collection. |

I have a shoebox I just toss any no gum/unused/uncanceled stamps in. The other day I soaked a 2 inch thick "brick" of unused stamps that had all stuck together. Dried them and threw them in the same box. Some day I'll do something with them - just have no idea what or when LOL |

In the UK you will find on ebay sheets of used but uncancelled 1st and 2nd class stamps for sale for 'philatelic purposes only' at 50% face which is way more than collectors would pay. These are obviously being reused for cheap postage by unscrupulous people. |
