Hi all,
this newspaper wrapper was in a kiloware I bought recently.
As I do not collect Graet Britain, I have no idea but would like to know when (1901 - 1910 ?), where and by whom (post office?) this cancel was used?
Grateful for every contribution, thanks you the curious German
Heinrich

"F.S." marks were Foreign Section marks of the London Chief Office. I'm pretty certain yours would have been used in London. The Foreign Section was formerly known as the "Foreign Branch" and used "F.B." in its marks.

Based on the depiction of Edward VII, I'd say your guess of a time frame is a good one.

You have a "Foreign Section" cancel. I have to step out, hopefully somebody can fill in the details for you that you wanted. There is an old thread on this, perhaps there might be something in there...

thank you all!
In our local (philatelic!) library I found a German copy of the "London postmarks used on printed matter and parcels from 1860" by Curt N Fernau which is mentioned in the posting of khj.
Reading it helped a lot to still my curiosity.
