There is another thread on this topic, which got a little heated.
Of course, an owner can do whatever they want with a stamp (including licking the back and posting an old stamp), but I think the question is what is the best practice today.

In my opinion, I stand with the majority which would leave the stamp on the cover to preserve its value etc. Plus, with Gportch's viewpoint--the technology is superb now so why do so?

Its akin to opening a bottle of old wine from 1880 just to see.

tommy...I do agree with you 99% (haha)...But isn't it like having a Birthday present in front of you all wrapped up and it would be a shame to not opening it......The suspense would kill me.
