Hello. I am embarrassed to say that I have had this sitting under my nose for years and have never realized it was misaligned until today. I have a couple questions.

1. How is this error classified or what is it called?
2. Any approximate value placed on these types of errors?
3. Is this a #337 or #337A?

Thanks.

It looks like it is # 337 and that the vertical perforations are shifted to the right. This is the first time that I have seen such a dramatic perforation shift on this issue. You should contact the Unitrade Editor on this forum to see if he may be interested in listing this variety in the Unitrade Canada catalog. This happened because the stamp sheet was fed into the perforator slightly shifted to the left when perforating the vertical perforations which resulted in the perforations looking like they have been shifted to the right on the stamps themselves.

Thanks. Hopefully he will see this post and chime in. If not I will contact him. I didn't see any information on it in the unitrade catalog.

This is a fairly well-known misperf on the 1c Wilding 'sheet' stamp (Scott 337). It is not from the booklet pane (337a).

A horizontal mint block of 20 from an UR philatelic pane of plate 1 has been exhibited in the past. An UR block of 6 from plate 4 is also known with a similar shift.

Use pairs are less common.

As I have stated before ... the Unitrade catalogue does not list misperfs (see page 27 of the catalogue).

A.S. Saskatoon Stamp has an on-line variety catalogue where you can see whether they have it listed and what it might be worth.

Thanks for the information Robin. I guess whomever used them for postage probably cut each end off to make 2 whole stamps since the perfs were all messed up and they couldn't separate them that way.
