Hi guys..Take a look at this block of Scott #742 stamps..The writing seems to be a kiss print...I even used my software to colourize it to better show the Kiss/ghost print going to the left off each letter..What do you think..??..Thanks.

Looks to me like two plates were just ever so slightly misregistered to the left. This would not even make an EFO collection?

Shouldn't the two colours be the same for a misprint?

Are you sure the design does not include a shadow for the lettering?

My copies (singles, PB and on FDC ) all show solid black or more
or less grey black.

Therefore that shadow as HungaryForStamps calls it
should not be there.

On this issue, kiss prints for the lettering are relatively "common" as far as relative frequency goes. I have three full plate blocks showing various degrees of it, two of which quite a bit more than your copy.

The value of the "kiss print" variety in Unitrade is for when more of the design is double as well rather than just minor shadowing of the letters.
