Once again as you all are aware I am slowly but surely learning. I have no clue what to do with these. I just know that they are old and not u.s. stamps, which is what I have been dealing with thus far. Any information would be lovingly appreciated!

You are correct - these are catalogue #1 from Great Britain in 1840 and are known as the "Penny Black". They were the first official postage stamps issued in the world.
The first picture is actually still on the envelope, it is sent to a Captain Miller of Rockstone Place. That is all I really know about the letter itself
You are fortunate indeed to have what looks like a four margin Penny Black on a cover (envelope). Value-wise we are talking hundreds of UK pounds. As it has a a red Maltese Cross cancel it might even be a S.G.#1 as it does look intensely black enough from your photo. As ever...the devil is in the detail so a closer scan/photo would be necessary to plate and identify the possible color. Your third Penny black looks a beauty also...much more detail needed though.
It is interesting to see the vast number of penny blacks ending up in united states. I would certainly be interested to own a penny black cover sent to America.
