I just found these on the back of one of the pages. With them all being still affixed to eachother this makes them more valuable yes? Not sure what they are but figured since they were "hidden" it was for a purpose!

Yes, leave any blocks intact. I'm not an expert on blocks and I don't own a US Specialized to value them, so I don't know anything about CV of these. Suffice it to say that generally there is at least a small premium for a block, i.e. a block of 4 will usually bring more than just 4 singles. The bottom ones with the plate numbers carry a very substantial premium over singles, particularly on old issues such as those. Those are known as plate blocks, and they can be pretty rare on 19th century material, although I don't think the one you have pictured is particularly rare.

Yes that is what I am meaning. blocks....like I have told everyone...I never had any type of "stamp" life until this time last week. I just had a few trunks and about 6 binders full of stamps that were bestowed upon me. Thank you all for your patience with me!

My guess for the back of the page.....
there is only a spot to mount a single stamp on the front....
common to mount pairs, blocks and other larger multiples
on the back side.

landstuhl0526, you are finding some extraordinary stamps. May I also recommend that you use much caution as you handle these stamps. If there is a stamp collecting dealer or store near you, I'd urge you to buy a pair of stamp "tongs" to handle them and not use your fingers. Tongs look similar to a pair of tweezers but are specially designed to not damage stamps. Tweezers can easily damage a stamp.

i have already purchased two of them, I am also wearing the pretty little white clothe gloves when handling them. I bought all of the "stamp handler's necessities" before I even began. I have worked with vintage and antique paintings and books before so I knew better than to just grab them! No oil from my fingers messing up anything! I wish I could find a dealer close to me. Unfortunately I am located in what most people refer to as the "sticks" lol! But once I get all these inventoried I will be traveling to where ever needed to get these properly taken care of!

landstuhl0526 Don't ever separate any stamps. All pairs or larger are worth more than singles. If they have the numbers or printing in the selvage they are even worth more. Some might say "Use Zip Code". If they have the selvage with writing they are called Plate Blocks. If there is no selvage or writing they are just plain blocks. Plate blocks are worth more than just blocks. Also don't ever hinge Mint (unused) stamps. Use stamp mounts for the mint. It's ok to hinge the used stamps. However I don't even hinge the really old stamps. I use mounts on them too. Great find!
