I am having trouble finding a few of the
Large "25" U611
25 cent Circle of Stars ,
Blue Square with
Red Denomination of "25" entire US stamped envelopes printed in 1988 with more than 27 varieties. Two different sizes of die 242 were produced for some reason. The
smaller red "25" - measures is 15.1 x 8.2 mm and the
Large red "25" is 16.6 x 9.0 mm Width is from lower left of
"2" to widest part of '
"5" Height is from lowest part of
"5" vertical to top of flag. In the image below the
Large "25" is on top and is rather easy to spot next to the
Small "25" but not by itself. They are all pretty common however because they are not easily distinguished unless one is looking and can easily be confused and by both having the same Scott 611 makes it even more difficult to find. Most often if one holds an envelope to a light the watermark can be seen easily. The 48A watermark has "USA" with a star on right; the 49A watermark has a "USA" with a star underneath and the 50 watermark has "USA" with a star on top. The use of most watermark envelope paper was discontinued when the use of the
Recycle Logos appeared around 1991-1992 and has become the "
new watermark" that helps distinguish one variety of envelope from another.
I really would appreciate in anyone has an extra of any of these or knows of anyone that does, please email me. The only two UPSS envelope dealers I know of and have always been a big help(JOBI Philatelic Services and Steve Levine) do not currently have any of these varieties. Thank you for any help.
